Celina's Gastrobar

Taken from Celina's Grastrobars' blog.

Update from their Facebook page - 14 October 2013:

Dear friends, Kok & I would like to thank you for your support these past 4 years. It is time now for us to take a break & spend more time with the family. Celina's GastroBar will pull it's last beer on Friday 1st November. We hope that you can find time to visit us in these coming days, have a drink together, tuck into a plate of Laksa Pasta, a bowl of Wing Fries or the ever-popular Ah Siong's Wonton. We would really love to see you again!!

Nestled in a row of old shophouses along Duxton Road, Celina's Gastrobar is operated by Kok and Celina, a husband and wife team. Their philosphy is that a good drink tastes better accompanied by good and tasty eats. They design and cook many of the dishes themselves, resulting in less common and more interesting bar bites menu.

There is a comprehensive drink list from old world and new world wines, whisky & single malts, sakes to cocktails and mocktails.

We celebrated my second birthday in Singapore with friends.

Apologies for not posting any photos of the food we ordered.

Phuket

We were looking forward to our holiday in Phuket.  It is about an one-and-a-half hour flight from Singapore.  Arriving at Phuket airport was fun but overwhelming, once you have cleared customs, there are numerous Thai people who waiting to harrass you!

Our mini-van to took us (what seemed like the long way) to our hotel at Kata Beach.  We stayed at the Sawasdee Village it was beautiful.

We upgraded to the Baray Villa.  The villas are designed with the perfect combination of Arabian and Thai style by concentrating on the transparency of ventilation in room.  The spacious area around 150 sqm with unique spectacular design of private pools where an in-villa jet pool connects to the villa private pool set amidst tranquil garden and extension to the main pool.

I'll let the pictures tell the story.

On our first night, we stayed in the Garden Deluxe Room
The common area in the Baray Villa

Comfortable king-sized bed

The upstairs bathroom (look, it has a "his" and "her's" sink)
The "very spacious" bathtub

The amenities

Kata Beach is about five minutes drive from the hotel.  There are beach chairs for use, but be aware that they are for hire.  We sat down, and was approached by some guy who advised us they were for hire.  There are people who walk up and down the beach selling their wares.

Surf boards and boogie boards for hire

Another exciting part of Phuket is the nightlife. In Patong, there is a stretch called Bangla Road which houses all the nightclubs and bars.

Flying SQ: Singapore to Hong Kong SAR

I flew to Hong Kong to meet my Mother, Grandmother and Aunty who were there to attend a wedding.

It is a four-hour flight from Singapore to Hong Kong.

I went during the Summer season.  Summer weather is hot, humid and unstable.  Thunderstorms and brief showers are common, as well as sunny conditions.  August has the highest average rainfall of any month (luckily it didn't rain at all).  Temperatures usually exceed 30°C during the day, which, coupled with a high humidity, can result in an extreme heat index.
