Piece of Cake - Cheers Cedele (Easter Edition)

Whenever I need a Sandwich in Singapore; that I know will have some fresh ingredients and isn't stingy on the fillings, I go to Cedele. I don't tend to eat a lot for lunch; so can only manage a Sandwich, but have always admired Cedele's range of Cakes. They have a great variety of Cakes.

One fine day though; Cedele recently got in touch; and asked the Expat Kiwis in Singapore if we would like to try one of their Cakes, it was too good an opportunity to pass up. We can have our Cake and eat it too!

When it arrived; it was a very generously sized Cake! It wasn't just a few slices but the entire Cake in all its glory.

The Cake was called the Hummingbird and the flavour was Banana and Pineapple. The Sponge was Banana Cake, the Cream in between was Pineapple flavoured (with juicy chunks of the Fruit itself), Pineapple flavoured Cream Cheese icing, topped off with dark Chocolate and Pecans. First thought was; what an interesting flavour combination.

The combination worked though. The Banana Cake was very good; not too sweet, and it tasted great with the Pineapple Cream and Chunks. The Pineapple Chunks added an extra level of sweetness to the Cake in certain mouth fulls. This was good because if it was that  sweet throughout the whole experience, it would've been too much.

The Cream Cheese icing was great as well; with a mellow Pineapple Juice flavour mixed into it. This gave a fruity finish to the Cake which really worked and added to the hint of Banana. The dark Chocolate was perfect; slightly bitter, and is an extra luxury for Choc lovers. The taste was fresh, tangy and topped off with some cocoa goodness. The Pecans rounded it off with a bit of crunch.

Overall the Hummingbird was a very enjoyable Cake; a real treat after dinner. The flavours are thoughtfully constructed and it's great to see Cedele having some fun and coming up with a unique taste combination. It's certainly the first Banana and Pineapple Cake we've had.

There are of course some classic Cake flavours out there but it looks like Cedele is looking at how to innovate and bring new experiences to our taste buds.

Now that I've had a taste of what's available, I might just make leave some room during Lunch to fit in a slice of Cedele Cake!

Thanks for the Cake Cedele. It was oh so good :)

Any readers of our blog out there who are Cake lovers?
